PRIVATE JOB VS PUBLIC JOB
Private jobs Vs. sarkari naukri : Take your pick By PRERNA KATIYAR, (Source: Economic Times) Once upon a time, if one got a government job, his life was made. The buck stopped there. There were no more reasons to worry. But things have changed since then. A Government job is no longer a holy grail and given a choice, today's youth would like to opt for private jobs. As Ankur Talwar, a third year Engineering student of JSS academy, NOIDA, says: “I would definitely prefer a private job. I don't think any government job at the entry level will offer a salary that is necessary to sustain today's lifestyle.” Ankur reflects the preference of today's pros for more talent and performance-driven private jobs. Who wants to be a babu? Today, young people no longer yearn for the ‘ pakki sarkari naukari' from where he could expect to retire after 30 years of service along with his pension. This used to be the ambition of his father and his grandfather before him. While fixing marriages, boys with solid government jobs always got a preference. However, the lifestyle and needs of people have seen a sea change in the last decade. At a time, when even the middle class prefer to go abroad for vacations, (so what if it is only next door countries like Singapore or Malaysia rather than the conventional Kullu-Manali.? ), a government jobs with its lower start-off salaries just don't seem happening enough. The rise in expenses fuelled by a mall-multiplex culture has tilted people's preferences towards private jobs, which are considered better paying. Also, one expects to rise faster through the ranks in private organisations as promotions here are expected to be performance rather than seniority-based. Government organisations are considered to be lacking in individual accountability. Unlike any private organisation, where there are set daily deliverables, maintaining status quo seem to be a norm for many of the government organisations. You don't have an actual target with a demarcated deadline to deliver. “Not all offices are like that. How can you forget establishments like various labs of Ministry of Defence, Science and Technology and many others that have delivered such sophisticated technologies and devices that make life easy for all of us. And it's the manpower that give shape to these,” says Dr Prasoon Dutt, a senior government employee. Though IAS jobs are still considered top-notch, not many manage to qualify for them. The best of student seem to shy away from government service. Professionals are even open to making a conscious career move from a government office to private firms. They don't want to remain part of a system that doesn't value them or where work-efficiency doesn't mater. “I was working with a government office for the past two years and I felt that I was useless there. I was not even appreciated for the initiatives I made. Everyone was so complacent. Finally, I decided to quit and now I am happily working with an MNC in Bangalore. I feel self worth and you get noticed if you go the extra mile in any private form,” says Gautam Chaddha, a 26-year old engineer. All's Not Rosy On Private Job Front “One of the fallacies of government jobs are that while looking at the low salaries, people don't count the parks, which add to up to a lot more than an equivalent private job will offer,” says Satish Bhalla, a class one government officer. “While the regular pay commissions make sure that salaries come up to the market level, it is the add-ons like a government accommodation in swank Delhi surroundings, free medical facilities etc that make a government job an uniquely well-paying option”, says Arjun Bhatnagar, who has been in the government for over 12 years. Bhatnagar is right when he says that on a same-level private job, it was unlikely that he will be able to live in a two-bedroom apartment .in South Delhi. Most probably, he would have moved to fringes of Delhi by now. When Bhalla's wife fell sick last year, the entire medical cost including that of a stay in a private room in AIIMS, was borne by the government which would have set him back by lakhs of rupees otherwise. It is the features like the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) facility, under which all dependent family members are covered for medical benefits, the Leave Travel Compensation (LTC), pension at the end of your service, or the housing facility that one gets by virtue of being a sarkari officer , that make the government job worthwhile. Also, government jobs are considered to have a more or less fixed nine-to-five working hours. Add to it the fact that one can count on more gazetted holidays from Guru Purnima to Gandhi Jayanti by virtue of having a government job and you have a potent combination at hand. However, everybody does not agree that a good life at government cost is ideal. “When you get paid in multiples by an MNC, you can easily afford all this on your own,” says Gautam Chaddha. “I still feel that there is a risk factor in private firms but when you do your work well, there should be no reason for any adverse action,” he quips. Few people still consider that a government job is more secure as you don't fear much of job loss. The Grass Is Not Always Greener... But as times change, the general element of security, status and fixed hours, the main reasons that made a government job worthwhile, seem to fade away. Today's young pro is ready to take the risk, go the extra mile and stay late for work provided he gets noticed, gets paid for his extra work and is promised a faster climb up the ladder of success. "I have worked as a government official for 26 years now, but I would never suggest any of my two sons to opt for the same when they will decide about their career. What will they do with the permanency factor when there is no incentive for good work. And after working for few years, you tend to develop a laid-back attitude," says Mahavir Chawdhary, who is again, a government official. There is no dearth of faster promotion prospects in any private jobs. Chances are that if you do very well, you may even get a raise in six months, while working in a government office has its set procedure of promotions, where you get call for a promotion only after minimum three to four years of service. Examples of people who are working in a government office for the 10 to 12 years of service without a raise or promotion are also not rare. So when the private firms and MNCs are happily willing to pay them more, are take care of their talent, it's no surprise that the young pros prefer private jobs to government ones.....

GREAT GOOGLE
You may be aware of Google Trends. It is an online tool from Google Labs that shows the most popularly searched terms from the beginning of 2004 to now. Google Trends chart shows how often a particular search term is entered relative the total search volume across various regions of the world, and in various languages. It is one of the important tools for webmasters for getting the idea of searches made on internet. Till now we can search keywords in Google trends, now we can also search web site addresses here. Now Google trends compare and rank web site visits across geographies, and related websites and searches. After entering a domain name into Google Trends, it will return you traffic, search and geographic visitation data for that site. Trends for Web Sites will show sites related to the domain name you entered, it will also show searches that are correlated to the domain name and if you are logged into your Google account, it will show the estimated traffic for that site. You can enter up to five domain names and Google will plot line graphs for all the domains you entered in.Let’s take and example. I am comparing the trends for Yahoo.com, MSN.com and AOL.comIt will also show the Regions where these websites are mostly visited, related websites, and related searches. Here you will have drop down where you can select Yahoo, MSN or AOL at a time and see their details.Uptill now, I normally use Alexa for getting more informations on websites, now I can also use Google Trends for this purpose. Thanks Google.

what's new in google chrome
Its Chrome everywhere on internet. All the news websites, blogs are talking about Chrome browser. As already updated, Chrome is a new internet browser developed by Google. It is an open source, free to use and distribute. Google has claimed that Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier. One box for everything, Thumbnails of your top sites, Shortcuts for your apps are the three features that make this browser unique. Today I am sharing ten things that you should know about Chrome browser. The name “Chrome” is derived from the graphical user interface frame, or “chrome”, of web browsers. The open source project behind Google Chrome is known as Chromium.Google Chrome is built from open source components like WebKit and V8.Google Chrome also uses a brand new JavaScript engine (V8), which is much faster than existing JavaScript interpreters. This means you can create more complex and more intensive AJAX applications with fewer speed and processing constraints.Google has also explained that why they have build a new browser?Google has published a Comic book which features all the new qualities of Chrome browser. The main user interface includes back, forward, refresh, bookmark, go and cancel options. The options are similar to Safari, while the settings location is similar to Internet Explorer 7/8. The minimize, maximize and close window buttons are based on Windows Vista.Aviv Raff announced a flaw in Google Chrome that can “trick users into launching executables direct from the new browser.” The flaw involves bugs in WebKit and Java, the latter bug having been discussed at the 2008 Black Hat conference.Microsoft said Chrome will not create any problem for IE 8 as most of the features in IE 8 are better than that in Chrome.Mozilla said that Chrome’s introduction into the web browser market comes as “no real surprise” and that “Chrome is not aimed at competing with Firefox” and furthermore should not affect Google’s financing of Firefox. There is a process management utility called the Task Manager in Chrome which allows the internet user to “see what sites are using the most memory, downloading the most bytes and causing extra CPU usage

unique blog
New stuff from the Picasa folksSeptember 2, 2008 — permalinkFor more than a year, you have been able to view all the photos you've uploaded to your blog in Picasa Web Albums. It's been good -- having a dedicated photo management interface comes in handy when you want to do things like embed Blogger photos elsewhere on the web, order prints, create slideshows, and so on.Today, Picasa Web Albums has undergone a significant redesign, and is launching a slew of new features to help you better organize and enjoy your photos, including all of your Blogger Photos. Along with a much-refined interface, there's a powerful new 'name tags' feature that helps organize your photo collection based on who's in each picture. For fun, check out the new Explore page, or take a look at the Recent Photos stream (unabashedly inspired by Blogger Play).Oh, and one more thing: If you use Picasa (the client software) to edit and organize all the photos on your PC, we're happy to report that Picasa's venerable 'BlogThis!' button still sits front-and-center in the next generation of Picasa software, which also launches today as Picasa 3 (beta). If you've never tried it before, now's a great time to start -- Picasa 3 includes plenty of new photo-editing goodies that can make your blog's pictures look better, like a powerful retouch tool, greatly revamped photo-collage and slideshow creators, simple video editing, desktop/web sync, and more. To learn more, swing by the Google Photos blog.— MendelShow off your FollowersAugust 27, 2008 — permalink(Important Note: The Following feature will be rolled out to all over the next few weeks, so if you don’t see it right away, don’t worry. It’s coming soon.)Would you like to know who enjoys reading your blog? Or stay updated with your favorite blogs right from your Blogger dashboard? You can do those things and more with Blogger’s new Following feature. By following your blog, your readers tell you and the world that they’re a fan of what you post. Your Dashboard now shows you how many followers each of your blogs has. With a click on the Followers icon, you can browse your followers, see what blogs they write, and read the other blogs they’re following. Now that you know who your Followers are, you can show them off by adding the Followers gadget to your blog’s sidebar. From the “Layout Page Elements” tab, click “Add a Gadget” and select “Followers” from the gadgets list. The Followers gadget shows the profile pictures of your followers and gives your readers a “Follow This Blog” link to join up, too.Your followers can stay updated with your blog with the Reading List that we’ve added to the Blogger Dashboard. The Blogs I’m Following tab automatically shows the latest posts from all the blogs you follow. You can follow any blog from your reading list, even blogs that haven’t added the Followers widget or aren’t hosted on Blogger. Just click the “Add” button and type in the blog’s URL.If you’re a Google Reader user, you’ll now see a special folder in Reader called “Blogs I’m Following,” full of the subscriptions for all of the blogs you follow. You can follow blogs you’ve subscribed to in Reader, too: From the Reading List on your Blogger Dashboard, click “Add,” then “Import from Google Reader.”And.... there's more to come! TIPS FOR INCREASING TRAFIC ON WEBSITE
I always hear blogger saying that they are not getting good traffic on their blog. It happens when your blog is new and you have very few articles on your blog. So to increase the traffic, you should follow some full-proof blog marketing strategies. Just now I have compiled a list of those strategies. I will explain each one of them in my next articles.1. First prepare a list of blogs which you like. Try to visit these blogs at least once a day. Leave useful comments on their articles. You can always get traffic in lieu of your comments.2. Try to write articles using the keyword “How to”. I mean to say, writing tips and tricks sort of articles bring bigger number of visitors.3. Ping different blog services and directories on every addition of new articles. Ping services allow you to automatically notify blog directories and search engines that your blog has been updated. The bigger your ping list the higher the chances of receiving traffic from those sources.4. Use simple words while writing the article, do not articulate your thoughts and ideas with complicated words and jargon. Even Google and other search crawlers do not like these things.5. Give humorous and sarcastic one-line comments on hot topics. They usually work.6. Install translator plugin to attract users who don’t know English.7. Submit your articles to different social bookmarking websites like Digg, Reddit, mixx etc.8. Try to use some uncommon theme for your blog. Edit its CSS, change the php code. Make the template unique.9. Ask questions in your articles so that users will try to answer the questions in comment form.10. Optimize your blog for search engines.11. Write articles in Ezinearticles.com and give backlinks there.12. Share your thoughts and ideas on forums and communities and put the link of your blog as the signature.13. Sometimes write on controversial topics, they always bring good traffic on any blog or website.
